To be honest, that surprised me, because the listing makes it pretty clear what you’re getting. If you actually take the time to look through all the product photos, you’ll see they’re shown disassembled. One of the images even zooms in on just the cotter pin. On top of that, the product description clearly states that it comes with a pack of 50 pins and a pack of 50 tabs — two separate items. There’s no misleading wording here, no fine print. As for assembly, it’s incredibly straightforward. You just pull the tab through the first “pinch” and then use a small flathead screwdriver to widen the second pinch slightly before pulling it through completely. The entire process takes about 5–7 seconds per pin, maybe 10 if you’re being extra cautious. So unless you’re allergic to basic hand tools, it’s really not a big deal. Honestly, assembling 50 of these could take less time than reading all the complaints in the 1-star reviews. And here’s the thing — if people had taken a moment to (1) look at the product images, (2) read the full description, and (3) glance at the top few reviews — they would’ve known that some assembly is required. It’s mentioned several times. It’s not hidden. So it feels a little unfair to criticize the product for something that was clearly explained. Once the parts are assembled (which again, is very easy), the product works exactly as it should. They’re strong, secure, and make attaching/removing body shells or other components much faster and more convenient. So if you’re thinking about buying this and are hesitant because of some of the reviews — don’t be. The only real issue here is user expectation, not product quality.

One thing worth noting, especially if you’re new to EC5 connectors: the bullets need to be inserted from the front of the connector. The correct process is to feed your wire through the back of the blue housing, solder it securely to the 5mm bullet, and then press the bullet into the housing from the front until it snaps into place. This isn’t a light push — it requires some real pressure. I used a small screwdriver for leverage and gently tapped it with a mallet to get the bullet seated properly. A good indicator that you’ve done it right is where the bullet ends up inside the housing. If it’s recessed about 2–3 mm from the opening of the connector, you’re good. If it’s sitting flush with the edge, it’s not locked in, and you’ll need to apply more pressure to fully seat it. This step is crucial because a loose bullet can cause poor connectivity or even short out under load. Once assembled correctly, these connectors provide a strong, secure, and reliable connection that can easily handle the demands of high-power RC setups. It’s a simple solution that makes a huge difference. Keep a few of those batteries charged and stored in your field box, and you’ll be ready for an entire day at the flying field. Swapping them out takes seconds and ensures consistent performance without relying on disposable batteries. Unless you’re repeatedly draining the battery trying to start a poorly tuned glow engine — which is more of a user issue than a product one — this ignitor performs exactly as it should. In fact, I find myself rarely needing to change the battery throughout the day. One good rechargeable AA will typically last me multiple sessions without issue. I’ve seen reviews from people saying theirs didn’t last long or wouldn’t work at all, but I honestly think those users either didn’t install the battery correctly, used a low-capacity or old battery, or were having other setup problems with their engine. This tool has been reliable and rock-solid for me from day one. What really stands out is the design: it’s compact, lightweight, and comfortable to use.
